Canadian Minister to Meet with Tesla, Wants to Work Together More [VIDEO]
Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, François-Philippe Champagne, announced on Wednesday the federal government wants to work more with Tesla.
“There’s a part of Canada in every @Tesla that you see on the roads and today I had a chance to visit their facility in Markham for a tour and test drive,” said Champagne. “I look forward to seeing Canada continue to be the green supplier of choice for the automotive industry,” added the minister, standing beside a Tesla Supercharger while holding a charging connector, with a Model Y in the background.
Champagne said today he visited Tesla Automation in Markham, Ontario. Tesla created a manufacturing facility in Markham last November.
“How can we do more? How can we help them bring their supply chain,” says the minister, currently touring Ontario.

At Tesla’s recent annual shareholder event, CEO Elon Musk suggested and teased Canada might be the next location for a Gigafactory. Recent lobbying disclosures in Ontario revealed Tesla has been trying to push for manufacturing facilities in the province.
