Elon Musk Files Confidential Countersuit Against Twitter

According to CNBC, Elon Musk filed a countersuit against Twitter in a Delaware court on Friday as part of his ongoing legal battle against the social networking company.

The news comes after a report from earlier this month indicated a countersuit from Musk’s legal team was coming. Details of Musk’s countersuit remain unavailable to the public as it was filed confidentially.

Twitter has sued Musk in the Delaware Court of Chancery as it seeks to legally force the celebrity billionaire to honor his $44 billion USD offer to buy the company. Musk announced earlier this month that he was “terminating” his bid for Twitter because the latter breached their agreement.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has publicly accused Twitter of downplaying the number of spam/fake accounts on its platform and maintains that the company refused to provide him with the information he is entitled to under their agreement.

It remains unclear why Musk asked the court to keep the details of his countersuit under wraps. That said, a redacted version of the complaint will likely be released to the public in the near future.

Elon Musk and Twitter are scheduled to meet in court for a five-day trial starting October 17. Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick of Delaware will rule on the case.

Musk’s lawyers were originally seeking a 2023 trial, and they previously claimed that Twitter was deliberately making the pre-trial process impossible.
