Elon Musk to Build Private Airport Outside of Austin: Report
Elon Musk is planning to build a private airport east of Austin, Texas, according to multiple sources speaking to Austonia.
It’s unclear when or exactly where Musk plans to build the airport, but sources say it will be near Bastrop, to the east of Austin.
Tesla currently owns 2,500 acres of land in southeast Travis County, where the automaker is headquartered since last December.
Musk and his companies Tesla, SpaceX and the Boring Company own thousands of acres of land in Central Texas, primarily spanning the land corridor near the Colorado River.

The Boring Company also has a presence nearby after moving to Pflugerville in 2020, recently making the site its headquarters.
Its current address in Pflugerville is just three minutes from Austin Executive Airport, a controlled airfield alternative to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
A firm adjacent to Boring Company executives called Gapped Bass LLC purchased 73 acres in NOrthwest Bastrop last year.
Additionally, company representatives asked local courts for a permit to construct a warehouse of 80,000 square feet, along with a manufacturing facility.
Filings earlier this month also showed that Tesla’s Giga Texas plans to expand east, after filing a new site plan for a battery endeavor called Project Cathode in February.
