Tesla’s Steam Video Games Demo ‘Probably’ in August, Says Elon Musk

Back in February of this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the company was working on making Steam games “work on a Tesla”, while adding Cyberpunk on Cybertruck would be a 100% guarantee.
The goal of expanding PC gaming to a Tesla has been part of the company’s goal ever since it announced its Model S and Model X refresh, which showed a picture of the Witcher on vehicle displays on its website.
In December 2021, Musk said Cyberpunk being added to Tesla Arcade was “complicated”, noting it could come “hopefully out next quarter”, but that never happened. He did say there was lots of internal debate about generalized gaming emulation or making single games work well.
Fast forward to Friday, July 15, and Musk said on Twitter, “We’re making progress with Steam integration. Demo probably next month.”

The newest Tesla vehicles include AMD’s Ryzen chip, which is also found in Sony’s Playstation 5, offering console-level gaming power to the company’s electric vehicles.
Last June, at Tesla’s Model S Plaid delivery event, the company showed off its in-house gaming controller, which allowed Cyberpunk 2077 to be played in demo vehicles (at 60fps nonetheless).
Earlier this month, Tesla’s 2022.20.5 software update added multiplayer modes with multiple controllers via Bluetooth, as noted by @greentheonly. It seems like Tesla’s demo of the online gaming platform Steam might actually come to life, soon. Stay tuned.
