2022.20.5 Release Notes: Tesla Adds Bluetooth Game Controller Support and More

As Tesla’s software updates roll out, the automaker is able to gradually improve its cars and their functionality, and one person recently shared release notes for software update 2022.20.5 with some exciting new features.

Tesla software code sleuth @GreenTheOnly tweeted a handful of release notes on Wednesday for Tesla’s software update 2022.20.5.

Cabin Camera now monitors drivers for attentiveness when using Autopilot for the Model S and Model X refresh, and Model Y with AMD Ryzen. These cars also get seatbelt safety improvements (but not in China, Japan).

The Model S and Model X (Raven) get adjustable suspension for bumpy roads based on available map data.

In the UK, Italy and Netherlands, Speed Assist is here to read speed signs for cars with Hardware 3.

In China, internet radio service is now using Ethereal Sound.

In Israel, Sentry Mode is now available, but no audible alarms are included it appears.

Some of the more interesting notes include the addition of a search history that migrates with your user profile, and the discovery of assets hinting at multiplayer modes with multiple gamepad support — likely set to come to Tesla’s in-car game system soon. It’s unclear if this is available now but we’ll find out soon enough.

Also included in this update is green traffic light chime for basic Autopilot, which Green says may now also include those with Hardware 2.x.

Legacy Model S and Model X owners (MCU2) also now get the cool car colorizer that was available for the Model 3 and Model Y.

Turkish and Polish navigation language is also available for some cars.

The Model 3 gets manual tire sensor resets after a rotation or other change, as previously seen.

Green also said that the use of multiple gamepads with the game system will utilize Bluetooth to connect to the vehicle.

Countries that will gain specific features with the update include the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Israel, China, the U.S. and Canada.

Last month, Green spotted and leaked a filing showing that Tesla has registered a high-res radar unit with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

In December, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into Tesla over the ability to game while vehicles are in motion.
