Watch Tesla’s Cybertruck Giga Press 9000t Get Assembled in Italy [VIDEO]
Earlier today we saw pictures of Tesla’s Cybertruck Giga Press 9000t being shared at an open house by Italian maker IDRA.
Now, the company has shared a short part two video showcasing this massive 9000t Giga Press being assembled.
At the end of May, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed IDRA’s 9000t Giga Press would cast the Cybertruck’s body.
The video shows workers assembling massive parts of the Giga Press, which dwarfs workers.
Tesla will produce the Cybertruck at its new Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. During the company’s Q1 2022 earnings call, Tesla said they are “making progress on the industrialization of Cybertruck, which is currently planned for Austin production subsequent to Model Y ramp.”
The Giga Press utilized at the moment by Tesla allows the company to simplify manufacturing. The Model 3 body structure requires 171 pieces of metal, but the Austin-made Model Y body structure contains two pieces of die cast metal for the front and rear structures, resulting in 1,600 fewer welds, allowing the automaker to produce vehicles at a faster rate with fewer steps.
“The future of die casting is here,” explains IDRA in their video. It’s unclear when this Giga Press 9000t will be delivered to Tesla’s factory in Austin, Texas, but you can bet it will be captured by drone pilots capturing footage daily of the site.
