Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the automaker will use IDRA’s 9,000-ton Giga Press for the Cybertruck’s body, with the massive machine recently on display in Italy.
The Tesla Cybertruck’s 9,000-ton Giga Press was showcased at an open house from the manufacturer IDRA, as detailed by an engineering student who recently got to see the machine and shared them on Reddit (the post has since been deleted), according to Teslarati.

The open house at IDRA’s facility will run from June 6 to 14, and is only open to a select number of customers, investors and other viewers.
The images, originally shared by u/leZael on Reddit, show the Giga Press at a few different angles, as well as a schematic showing the overall build of the casting machine.

In a statement about the event, IDRA said, “We are honoured to offer you a preview in our facility to show you the latest design in Die Cast Machines. You will be one of the first to preview our new 9000t Giga Press under test including the 5S injection system as well as other medium-sized fully integrated manufacturing cells. Come and see the real thing.”
Another Giga Press machine arrived at Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory in January ahead of the facility’s opening, to be used for the then-upcoming Model Y electric SUV.
