Tesla Needs a Better Battery Life on Arrival Indicator During Navigation

Tesla users have seen the automaker update software time and time again, and while some improve the car’s interface, not all of them do — such as the choice to move the battery indicator away from the navigation info section, as one example.

One Tesla driver suggested on Monday that the automaker move the battery indicator to the navigation area of the infotainment screen, rather than it being “buried in the directions” (via Reddit), while actively navigating to a destination.

When navigating to a destination, Tesla shows you your estimated battery percentage upon arrival. But as the full list of turn by turn directions fold up, the battery percentage at arrival is buried and hard to see.

Users noticed that prior software versions did show the battery level indicator there, but that V11 updated it to hide it within the directions.

Another user noted that the indicator could be color-coded to show how the battery is holding up in comparison to the original, pre-route estimate.

Finally, one other user also noted how important it is to be able to see the charge levels in colder climates, as it’s easy to run out of charge entirely in sub-zero temps.

The change would also benefit those who have had their vehicles for a while and are experiencing some battery degradation, such as this owner who charged at over 1,600 Tesla Superchargers across North America.

Last month, a number of Tesla deliveries were sitting at service centers with charging ports set to be replaced.
