To generate the HRC’s list of the “Best Places to Work,” the index in which Tesla scored 100, the organization ranked 258 of Fortune 500 businesses with a 100-percent rating.
In sum, the organization found 842 businesses worthy of the distinction of the “Best Places to Work,” which is earned by garnering a 100-percent on the corporate equality index.

On the web page for accelerating global equity, the foundation writes, “In the 20-year history of the Corporate Equality Index, survey data has explicitly shown that having an inclusive workplace is beneficial to a company’s success. The data doesn’t lie – being an LGBTQ+ inclusive1 employer positively impacts recruitment, retention, engagement and, overall, total revenue.”
The criteria are based on four criteria points: responsible citizenship, supporting an inclusive culture plus corporate social responsibility, inclusive benefits and workplace protections.
