Tesla Model Y Pricing in Australia Leaks Ahead of Imminent Sales Launch: Report

Tesla Model Y pricing in Australia has reportedly leaked ahead of an imminent launch, reports Chasing Cars.
Currently, only the Model 3 is available down under, but the Model Y will soon launch in single motor rear-wheel drive variants and the more powerful dual motor all-wheel drive Performance version.
Australian pricing for the Model Y was shared with corporate and industry customers on Wednesday morning, according to Chasing Cars.
- Model Y Single Motor RWD: $67,990 AUD
- Model Y Performance AWD: $98,172 AUD
The availability of a dual motor Long Range Model Y does not seem to be available yet, as it was not mentioned. It is likely these Model Y vehicles will be manufactured at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai, China.
Similar pricing was also reported by The Driven, also noting the pricing was shared with corporate customers. The site says a source familiar with the matter “confirmed” that the pricing was indeed accurate.
Sales of Tesla vehicles in Australia, notably the Model 3, have been off to a strong start for Q1, leading EV sales in the country and nabbing 65% of electric sales.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously stated the company’s Model Y would soon become the best-selling car of any kind, globally. Data from February shows the Model Y led all EV sales worldwide, and with new factories in Texas and Germany starting to ramp up, it’s likely this will continue to be the case.
