Tesla Model S Plaid Owners are Adding Sticker Buttons to the Yoke’s Horn Button [PICS]

Tesla’s yoke steering wheel in the Tesla Model S contains a button for the horn, located on the right side of the steering wheel. To honk the horn, owners need to press and hold the button.

In some situations, owners are finding it hard to locate the horn button as there’s no physical raised button, as it sits flush above the steering wheel button. Tesla plans to bring back a push center horn, set to arrive soon via software update.

But in the meantime, to make it easier to quickly locate the horn button, some Tesla Model S Plaid owners are sticking on rubber bumper pads, such as the ones to reduce noise for kitchen cabinets.

“Got this idea from another member. In my opinion this fully addresses the issue of constantly trying to find the signal and horn buttons while driving. In person you cant see the bumpers and the buttons are just as sensitive even with the bumpers on top,” said Leonard L. on Facebook.

Frank B. Chimed in to say, “I’m glad it works for you! I have to say though, I do think my black bumper looks better. You don’t see the horn symbol, but if a passenger was sitting next to me, it wouldn’t stand out like the clear does. It kind of just looks like it belongs there. (In my opinion).”

Many chimed in on Facebook to say this sticker button was unnecessary, but others defended the move, saying in an emergency the button allows drivers to locate and honk, without looking down to find the horn.

What do you think about this ‘Macgyver’ hack to allow for better finding of the yoke’s horn button without staring down?
