Tesla Model Y Standard Range Plus from Giga Texas Coming, Hints Software Code
According to developer @greentheonly, a Tesla Model Y Standard Range Plus is coming from the company’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, according to software code.
A deep dive into Tesla’s 2022.8.2 software update by @greentheonly reveals a Texas-made Model Y Standard Range Plus, dated for the first quarter of 2022. “I guess that would be the first car configuration out of that place pretty soon,” predicts @greentheonly.
Further analyzing 2022.8.2:
TX-made (2022Q1 dated) ModelY SR+ is added so I guess that would be the first car configuration out of that place pretty soon.
Several new battery types added too (I don't dig in ECUs so I don't know what exactly they are)— green (@greentheonly) March 16, 2022
Recently, a new Model Y trim was discovered in filings with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This recent discovery by @greentheonly seemingly corroborates a Standard Range Plus Model Y may be coming soon to the U.S.
The EPA filing showed a 2022 Model Y Standard Range AWD with 263 miles range on a highway, 292 miles in the city, and 279 miles combined.
The first Model Y vehicles from Giga Texas will include Tesla’s newest 4680 structural battery packs.
Tesla at one point was producing the Model Y Standard Range RWD in North America last year, but it was quickly discontinued due to its limited range. But this version of the vehicle is currently offered in China.
Gigafactory Texas will soon hold a grand opening party, set for April 7, 2022.
