Rent a Tesla from Hertz to Drive with Uber is Coming Soon, Says Email
Back in October, Hertz announced a deal with Tesla to buy a fleet of 100,000 Model 3 vehicles, and shortly afterwards, the rental car company shared its plans to rent its newly-purchased Tesla vehicles to Uber drivers.
Now, on New Year’s Day, 2022, Uber sent an email to its drivers to say, “rent a Tesla to drive with Uber” to again emphasize the partnership, noting it was coming soon.
“Boost your earnings per trip by driving a Tesla with Uber,” says the ride-hailing company’s email, shared by @WholeMarsBlog.
“More Teslas will soon be available to rent through Hertz in your city. You can join the waitlist and we’ll contact you when they arrive,” says Uber.
Uber today sent the following email to their drivers to notify them that they can soon rent a Tesla from Hertz to drive with Uber.

As for the cost, Uber reiterated these “road-ready” Tesla rentals will cost $334 USD per week ($1336 for 4 weeks), excluding taxes and fees. However, basic maintenance and insurance is included.
Driving a Tesla with Uber means extra earnings opportunities, such as the latter’s Zero Emissions incentive, which offers an extra $1 on every Uber trip, up to $4,000 annually. Also, Uber Green trips offer $0.50 extra per trip, paid for by riders when they opt for Uber Green on top. Tesla vehicles are also eligible for Uber Comfort trips, which are a premium paid for by riders.
Those Uber drivers opting into renting a Tesla will likely see fuel savings and less wear and tear on their original vehicles, by renting a Tesla to drive instead.
