More and more electric vehicles (EVs) seem to be making it into the “best of” lists.

The 2021 Tesla Model 3 has won Edmunds’s top-rated EV, according to a post on Edmunds’ website on Wednesday (via Twitter). The victory also marks the Tesla Model 3’s third year in a row winning top EV.

Other notable electric winners included the 2022 Porsche Taycan which won top-rated luxury EV, along with the 2022 Rivian R1T which won the Editor’s Choice column of the top-rated vehicles.

In the analysis on why it chose the Tesla Model 3, Edmunds said, “Our three-time EV winner, the Model 3 still ranks above the rest thanks to its comfortable cabin, fun driving dynamics and Tesla’s excellent charging infrastructure.”

Edmunds also referred to upgrades made to the Tesla Model 3 as part of why it remained the top EV, including the vehicle’s wireless device charging, increased range and its new power-operated trunk – in addition to the EV’s actual driving.

Overall, the vehicle was rated an 8.4/10 by Edmunds, though it dinged the vehicle a bit for its large touchscreen being potentially distracting, and for its lack of support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Tesla’s vehicles were also ranked the “most satisfying” in a Consumer Reports survey taken last month.
