Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai Flyover Shows Jam-Packed Delivery Lot [VIDEO]

Wu Wa, a long-time follower of Tesla’s progress at Gigafactory Shanghai, recently shared a 4K drone flyover of the site from Friday, December 10, on YouTube.

The video shows the factory operating like a well-oiled machine, piping out Model 3s and Model Ys by the boatload. It’s almost hard to believe Giga Shanghai was empty land just three years ago.

Last month, Tesla delivered the first Giga Shanghai-made Model Y Performance. Gigafactory Shanghai produced 300,000 cars during the first three quarters of this year and is currently on track to make a whopping 400,000 deliveries by year’s end. In addition, a recent report claimed the facility has hit a peak annual production capacity of 1.3 million units.

Earlier in the year, Tesla debuted a new R&D center as well as a Supercharger fabrication site at Giga Shanghai.

In the drone footage, we can see the Giga Shanghai parking lot absolutely flush with finished Model 3 and Model Y units, waiting to be taken out for delivery. Tesla’s road-testing site for Model Ys was also showcased.

We got to see cars being loaded onto trailer trucks and being sent out to their destinations. With the Tesla Semi reportedly going into limited production at Giga Nevada this week, all of those trucks could be replaced by Tesla’s all-electric alternative in the near future.

Tesla will be investing up to $187 million USD to further expand Gigafactory Shanghai, as reported by China’s state-backed Beijing Daily newspaper in November.
