On Thursday, Hoonigan shared a new video from its Hoonicorn vs. The World segment, showing the team’s 1965 1,400 horsepower all-wheel-drive twin-turbo Ford Mustang racing against the world’s quickest production car, the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The Hoonigan team has also outfitted its ’65 Mustang, which it calls the Hoonicorn, with a variety of turbo mods to make it quicker. The Mustang was also impressively driven by Ken’s 14-year old daughter Lia.
In the video, Hoonigan team member Hert said, “This is the future, versus the now.” In response, the team’s Vin said, “And the future’s been all over the internet slaying supercars.”
The owner of the black Model S Plaid is asked what he’s done to the car since his last time out, in which the vehicle beat a 1,000 horsepower McLaren supercar, and in response the owner only named cosmetic fixes like tinting the windows and fixing the front bumper.
In the first races, the vehicles compete in what’s supposed to be the best of three 1,000-foot race.
While there’s no question that the Model S Plaid gets a quick jump on the Mustang, it keeps up for just a handful of seconds before falling a few car lengths behind.
In response, the team decides to move up to a 500-foot race, in which the Plaid keeps up without any problems.
