Watch a Tesla Model 3 Hit 255 km/h on Germany’s Autobahn [VIDEO]
In a recently published YouTube video, Cars on Autobahn put the Tesla Model 3 Performance to a top speed and acceleration test on Germany’s Autobahn, or federal highway that does not have a speed limit on certain stretches (via InsideEVs).
During the test, the Model 3 Performance smoothly and almost effortlessly accelerated to a top speed of 255 km/h (~158.4 mph) on the Autobahn.
While most highways enforce speed limits, the Autobahn system of highways in Germany features sections that have no speed limit, making high-speed driving in these locations completely legal.
These stretches of highway usually have less traffic and more room for drivers to rev their engines (or, in the case of the Tesla Model 3, quietly accelerate to impressive speeds).
As for acceleration, Cars on Autobahn measured the following numbers using a QSTARZ LT-6000S automatic Lap Timer:
- 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds
- 0-200 km/h (124 mph) in 15.0 seconds
- 100-200 km/h (124 mph) in 11.4 seconds
The YouTuber’s 3.6-second 0-100 km/h time is pretty close to Tesla’s advertised 3.3-second 0-100 km/h time for the Model 3 Performance.
In a similar test on the German Autobahn from earlier in the year, the Tesla Model Y Long Range managed a respectable top speed of 220 km/h.
According to a September report, Tesla may be working on a ‘V2’ for the Performance variants of both the Model 3 and the Model Y.
