President Biden Ignoring Tesla Called ‘National Embarrassment’ [VIDEO]
The U.S. House of Representatives passed President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better bill on Friday, and while the legislation increases tax credits for buyers of certain zero-emission vehicle companies, it leaves out support for the largest one – California-based Tesla.
A new video from HyperChange shared on Thursday shows the host, Gali, explaining why he feels that U.S. President snubbing Tesla is a “national embarrassment,” given that Tesla is a U.S.-based company and the world’s top-selling electric vehicle (EV) lineup
Gali also points out a statement from U.S. President Biden to General Motors (GM) CEO Mary Barra, in which he gives her credit for “changing the whole story,” and “electrifying the entire automotive industry.”
In fact, GM has fewer EV models on the road than Tesla by a longshot, and Tesla is a U.S. company that now has its hand in other countries all around the world.
As Gali explains, Biden has instead chosen to favor union-made U.S. EVs, including those backed by automotive union and lobbying group United Automotive Workers (UAW), which backs Ford, GM and Fiat Chrysler.
The tax credit in the currently-proposed bill would increase EV tax credits for Ford, GM and Fiat Chrysler to $12,500 USD from $7,500 USD, though it would exclude Tesla, despite the company being the current largest EV maker in the world by far.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted to Biden’s mention of GM leading the EV charge, with two laughing emojis.
