Tesla Full Self-Driving beta tester and Canadian James Locke (@arctechnic) normally works and resides in Santa Clarita, California, but his latest video shows him testing FSD beta 10.4 back in Victoria on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada.

Locke, the former President of the Vancouver Island Tesla Owners, shares a video of his Model 3 with FSD beta 10.4 attempting to drive off the upper vehicle deck of a B.C. Ferry at Swartz Bay Terminal, as part of a journey to the Tesla Superchargers in Victoria at Uptown Mall.

Overall, Locke says he was “impressed with the FSD Beta performance for the drive.”

Typically, the Patricia Bay highway leading into downtown Victoria is a straightforward affair, even using regular Autopilot. But it’s nice to see the visualizations of FSD beta and also how the system handles driving in Canada, where it’s technically not ready for yet. The FSD beta drives in Victoria will provide Tesla with invaluable data on how the system handles in one city in Canada.

This is not the first time we’ve seen U.S. FSD beta testers drive across the border and test the software in Canada. We recently saw a test of FSD beta 10.3 in Toronto, Ontario, as well.

Last week, Elon Musk said FSD beta might come to Canada “maybe next month”. He added the system “requires quite a lot of incremental testing and code tweaks for different road system in Canada.”
