Upon Tesla’s release of software update 2021.36, a number of new features arrived for customers in China, including the well-acclaimed Autopark
Tesla’s recent software update shared on Wednesday also brought Autopark to the Model Y in China for those who have Autopilot, according to CNEVPost. The feature, which has been available in the U.S. and some other markets for much of the year, allows the car to detect parking spaces and automatically park themselves in them.

While those with Autopilot will gain access to the feature, those with the free version of Autopilot included with the vehicle will not support the auto-park feature.
In order to gain Autopark, users must either purchase Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) or Full Self-Driving (FSD), which cost RMB 32,000 ($4,970 USD) and RMB 64,000 ($9,957 USD), respectively.
Autopark was also already available in Tesla Model 3 units within the country, though users also needed to purchase either EAP or FSD to gain access to the feature.
Here’s how Tesla describes its Autopark feature:
If your car sees a parking spot, a grey ‘P’ icon will appear on the left or right hand side of your instrument panel, depending on the location of the space. Autopark detects parallel parking locations when driving below 15mph and perpendicular parking locations when driving below 10mph.
To use Autopark at that time, press on the brake and shift the gear selector into ‘Reverse.’ Keep your foot on the brake. ‘Start Autopark’ will appear in blue text on your touchscreen – press this to start the feature and release the brake and steering wheel. Autopark will then begin to maneuver the vehicle into the parking space by controlling your cars speed, gear changes and steering angle, but you should remember to be alert and monitor the backup camera view to check for obstacles.
Once Autopark is complete, the car will let you know it is complete and shift into ‘Park.’ You can override Autopark at any time by taking control of the steering wheel.
Other new additions to the Model Y with Tesla’s software update 2021.36 include airbag system improvements, the addition of QQ Music VIP access, improvements to cold weather situations and battery preconditioning before charging, and a number of other improvements across the board for different Tesla vehicle models.
