Tesla Launches Online Owner’s Manuals for Model S, 3, X, Y

Tesla has shifted the owner’s manuals for its electric vehicles (EVs) from PDFs to an online format. The new, interactive owner’s manuals are live on Tesla’s website, and can be seen below (via @tesla_adri):
- Model S (2021+) owner’s manual
- Model 3 owner’s manual
- Model X (2015-2020) owner’s manual
- Model Y owner’s manual
The new online owner’s manuals are much more intuitive than their predecessors — users can now click through sections and sub-sections, precisely navigating to the information they’re looking for. It feels similar to when Apple shifted its iPhone user guides from PDF to an online format.
In addition, clicking through an interactive knowledge base is also a much more pleasant experience than searching your way through a 200+ page PDF to get to a specific item — the PDF version of Tesla’s latest Model 3 owner’s manual is 248 pages long.
A live, online owner’s manual also makes it easier for Tesla to deploy updates to the documentation and make revisions, since anyone who accesses it will always be presented with the latest iteration.
PDF versions of the owner’s manuals will continue to be available.
