Tesla’s 2021.24 software update was released last month, including a nifty Car Wash mode that closes the windows, locks the charging port, and disables all windshield wipers, sentry mode cameras, walk-away door locks and parking sensor chimes.

In a new update, one user tried the car wash mode for the first time, and shared their experience with the r/TeslaLounge subreddit (via Reddit).

Many users on the thread expressed questions or concerns about taking their Teslas through a car wash at all, but the original poster said they had been doing it for years without any issues.

The user also said that the charging port closing may be liability protection on top of being added safety for the user since Car Wash mode would disallow users from being able to say the car was broken by being used in the car wash.

Along with Car Wash Mode, Tesla’s 2021.24 update also included Disney+ connectivity, mirror auto dim enabling or disabling, dashcam improvements including the ability to auto-save clips, range display improvements, additional language support, and the ability to remain connected to hotspots while in drive.

The release came just after Tesla’s 2021.12.25.7 release earlier the same night.
