2021 Rimac Nivera EV Sets 1/4 Mile World Record [VIDEO]
In a recently published YouTube video, DragTimes takes Croatian electric vehicle (EV) startup Rimac Automobili’s all-electric hypercar, the Rimac Nevera, to a proper drag strip for the first time, setting a new world record for fastest 0-60mph time in a production car.
The Nevera went 0-60mph in 1.90 seconds, narrowly beating out Tesla’s Model S Plaid at 1.99 seconds. In addition, the Nevera also set a new world record for fastest 1/4 mile time in a production car, posting 8.45 seconds. For comparison, the Model S Plaid manages 9.08 seconds.

Don’t take the crown from the Model S Plaid just yet, though — the Rimac Nevera isn’t technically a ‘production car’ just yet, since not a single unit of the car has been delivered to date and Rimac hasn’t even been able to sell all 150 of the units it currently plans on producing.
Technicalities aside, the Nevera is a $2.5 million USD 2-door all-electric hypercar that beat a $129,990 USD 4-door all-electric sedan by merely 9/100th of a second.
The Nevera features a four-motor powertrain that delivers a whopping 1,914 horsepower. On the other hand, the Model S Plaid features a tri-motor setup rated at 1,020 horsepower.
Last month, Rimac announced a merger with luxury sports car company Bugatti to form Bugatti-Rimac. The Nevera still remains a Rimac-only offering, though.
With Tesla’s second-generation Roadster slated to go into production next year, the EV pioneer doesn’t plan on there being any confusion over the world’s fastest production car for long. Regardless of which automaker holds the crown, however, the only winner at the end of the day is the electric revolution.
