Tesla’s Powerwall can be purchased with the company’s solar panels. The unit essentially is a large battery pack for your home to store energy, either from solar panels or from your existing grid, offering you 24/7 outage protection.
“Powerwall is a battery that stores energy, detects outages and automatically becomes your home’s energy source when the grid goes down. Unlike gasoline generators, Powerwall keeps your lights on and phones charged without upkeep, fuel or noise. Pair with solar and recharge with sunlight to keep your appliances running for days,” explains Tesla’s website.
Tesla director of product design, Javier Verdura, said “energy storage is a key component of Tesla’s ecosystem.”
