Tesla CEO announced on early Thursday the company plans to hold a Tesla Model S Plaid delivery event at its Fremont factory in California. Elon Musk said the vehicle will be the “fastest production car ever” with its ability to go from 0 to 60mph in under 2 seconds.

During Tesla’s Q1 earnings call, Musk said deliveries of the company’s Model S refresh may start this month.

A Tesla Model S Plaid starts at $119,990 USD, has an estimated range of 390 miles (627km) and a top speed of 200mph (321km/h), thanks to its 1,020 horsepower. The vehicle has carbon-sleeved rotors and torque vectoring as upgrades over the standard Model S.

Current delivery dates on Tesla’s website are noting August-September for orders in the United States.

Tesla first unveiled its new Model S and Model X refresh back in late January during its earnings call, and the Model S Plaid was set to ship in February at the time. The new refresh vehicles feature new center displays, plus a third display in the back for rear passengers.

A new yoke steering wheel has no stalks or shifting and it’ll be interesting to see more about this feature at Tesla’s unveiling event. New in-car audio will feature 22-speakers and active noise cancelling, to go with a new full glass roof. Tesla says these new models come with premium connectivity for one year.

It’s unclear if Tesla will stream the Model S Plaid delivery event, but given it’s going to be a proud moment for the company to show off the “fastest production car ever”, expect it to be available live.
