City of Sudbury, Ontario Purchases Tesla Model 3 Fleet
Following new zero-emission vehicle charging stations announced across Ontario and other parts of Canada, one city has announced plans to add four Tesla Model 3s to its fleet.
The City Council of Sudbury announced plans to purchase four electric vehicles (EVs) in a press release on Thursday, as part of a larger initiative to electrify the city’s entire fleet by 2035 (via Electric Autonomy). The vehicles will reportedly be used as scheduled appointment passenger vehicles for the Community Paramedic Program in the Ontario city.

After some research, Chapter President of the EV Society in Sudbury Devin Arthur confirmed to Electric Autonomy that the EVs will, in fact, be Tesla Model 3s.
In the press release, Sudbury City Council wrote, “One of the goals of the CEEP is to electrify 100 percent of the City’s fleet by 2035. The City has taken the first step toward achieving this goal with the purchase of four fully electric vehicles expected to be on the road in May.”
Sudbury has long been heralded as one of Canada’s most forward-thinking early adopters of EVs, with three of the city’s ambulances already featuring hybrid electric motors, and three more set to arrive later this year. The city also boasts over 20 hybrid light-duty passenger vehicles, some of which have been used by Sudbury emergency service for more than a decade – among them includes a Hybrid SUV for emergency response medical use.
