In a “Model 3 showdown”, U.K.-based car buying platform Carwow pit all three available variants of the Tesla Model 3 against each other in a drag race, acceleration test, and brake test, showcasing the results in a YouTube video.

Carwow’s goal from the get-go was to determine just how much of a performance difference exists between the Model 3 Performance (£56,490 or $74,990 CAD), the Model 3 Long Range (£46,990 or $64,990 CAD), and Model 3 Standard Range Plus (£40,490 or $52,990 CAD).

With a dual-motor, All Wheel Drive setup, the Model 3 Performance produces 457hp and 660Nm of torque, and weighs in at 1,844 kg. The Model 3 Long Range also has a dual-motor, All Wheel Drive setup, but produces 367hp and 510Nm of torque, and weighs in at 1,844 kg.

Lastly, the Model 3 Standard Range Plus, the most affordable model in the lineup, weighs in at 1,625 kg and only has one motor powering the car in a Rear Wheel Drive setup. The Model 3 SR+ produces 296hp and 450Nm of torque.

While the Model 3 Performance absolutely dusted its siblings in the drag race, the acceleration test revealed something interesting — the Performance variant seems to get most of its acceleration at the very beginning, so when accelerating from 50 mph or 70 mph, the Long Range can often keep up and sometimes even overtake the Performance.

By virtue of being over 200 kg lighter than the other variants, the Model 3 Standard Range Plus took the crown in the brake test with the shortest stopping distance.

We’ve already seen the Model 3 tested against Tesla’s other offerings and even a Porsche Taycan, so seeing it square off against its own kin has certainly made for some intriguing results.
