2021 Tesla Model 3 Camp Mode Test Runs for 72 Hours Straight [VIDEO]

Tesla’s Camp Mode keeps a vehicle’s heat and various systems on while preserving the battery’s energy, and one video suggests that it could keep you warm inside for at least 72 hours.

Back in January, popular Norway-based YouTube channel Teslabjorn Live did a live-streaming event to test out the 2021 Tesla Model 3 Performance’s camping mode, ultimately to see if it could run for 72 hours straight.

Parked in front of his house and starting Monday night at 7:00, the host, Bjorn, left the camera facing a cell phone with battery readouts from the car’s different systems, while he popped in and out to provide commentary.

Ultimately, Tesla’s camping mode has no problem running the whole 72 hours, and with some fairly impressive remaining power levels by the end. Bjorn also comments that he could have directed the A/C fans more specifically throughout the process, as he still had the heaters defrosting the windshield despite not using it throughout – an act that may have preserved even more battery if he were more careful about it.

While the battery does depreciate fairly significantly, Bjorn estimates that the battery may even be able to run up to 100 hours, though after quite a lengthy first test, he unsurprisingly doesn’t push it beyond its 72-hour limits.

With summer just around the corner, and many Tesla owners ready to go camping again, this test of Camp Mode might provide you with some reassurance while you’re ‘roughing it’.
