BMW Fan Shares First EV Experience in a Tesla Model 3 [VIDEO]
In a new video uploaded Wednesday by YouTube channel BIMMER ZEIT, the host and BMW fanatic, Rich, shares his first experience with an EV using a base model Tesla Model 3, as borrowed from a generous Tesla employee, Allen, one of the viewers of his channel.
Rich says that he wasn’t even sure how to open the door or turn the car on when he first received the Model 3, signaling the small learning curve that driving a Tesla can require.
Among some of the first things Rich notices and mentions are the slightly squared-off shape of the steering wheel, the little “ding” that plays when the Model 3 notices a green light, and the way the regenerative braking feels, compared to his BMW 335.
Another notable part of the experience that Rich mentions is the sheer silence in the car, compared again to his BMW or just about any traditional combustion engine. He also mentions the addition of external sounds, which were mandated for Tesla to put in because of their quietness, in order to alert pedestrians of the car’s presence.
Overall, Rich enjoyed his Model 3 experience and says he also had the chance to test drive the Model Y, which he will detail in a future video. BMW drivers are passionate about their cars and the brand–similar to Tesla owners. Rich’s video was unique because it was his first EV experience, which happened to be a Tesla.
At any rate, Rich will certainly not be the last to try out his first EV in the years to come. Rather, the number of people trying out, and, ultimately, switching to EVs is likely to skyrocket over the next decade, as automakers scramble to try keeping up with Tesla, putting out new zero-emissions vehicles.
