Tesla Superchargers Being Used by Other Automakers Says Elon Musk
Elon Musk says other automakers are able to access the company’s Supercharger network, “although it’s kind [of] low-key”, said the Tesla CEO on Monday morning.
Musk’s response was to Marques Brownlee on Twitter, who asked, “Serious question: Why don’t more electric car makers take up Tesla on their offer to use the Supercharging network? Incompatible tech? Hidden fees? Pride? There’s gotta be a good reason.”
That’s when Musk responded at 3:13am PT to say, “They are, although it’s kind low-key. Tesla Superchargers are being made accessible to other electric cars.”

Tesla’s Supercharging network numbers over 20,000 worldwide, is a major advantage the automaker holds, a ‘genius’ feature acknowledged by car buff and comedian Jay Leno recently on MSNBC.
Back in 2018, Musk said other automakers could use the Supercharger network if they paid for it. These companies would either have to adopt Tesla’s plug or use an adapter to charge vehicles.
It’s unclear which automakers have taken up Tesla’s offer to access the Supercharger network, which already is crowded depending on location.
Other electric vehicle makers using the network would add further wait times for existing Tesla owners. But Tesla keeps opening new charging stations weekly it seems, building up huge network competitors cannot match right now.
