2021 Tesla Model 3 Heat Pump Revealed, Has Acoustic Blanket Like Model Y
While the new 2021 Tesla Model 3 refresh is being delivered to the United States, Canada and overseas, we’ve seen numerous pictures and videos of the new features but not the heat pump yet.
But we now have a glimpse at the Model 3 refresh and the heat pump thanks to Hong Kong-based @teslaoffer, which shared a picture of the heat pump earlier this morning. The site had previously shared a video overview of new Model 3 refresh features.
“Here’s the heat [pump] on 2021 Model 3. People also ask about the heated steering wheel – we have triple confirmed it is NOT included,” said @teslaoffer.

It’s unclear how the user ‘confirmed’ the heating steering wheel is not included. Speculation is Tesla may offer a heated steering wheel in-app upgrade at some point possibly, similar to what the company offers for rear heated seats.
You can see how the Model 3 heat pump looks pretty much the same as the Model Y heat pump–and includes the acoustic blank which helps reduce noise significantly. Tesla started offering the acoustic blanket as a retrofit for early Model Y owners.

The addition of the energy-efficient heat pump to the Model 3 helped Tesla increase the range of its electric sedan last month.
The Long Range version saw an increased range to 353 miles (568 km in Canada; was 518 km), up from 322 miles (about a 9% increase!), while the 0-60 mph time decreased to 4.2 seconds, down 0.2 seconds.
As for the Standard Range Plus Model 3, its range jumped to 263 miles (423 km in Canada; was 402 km), up from 250 miles before (5% increase), with a 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds.
