Reddit user dandorato recently posted some newly captured images of the under-development Tesla showroom and service center in Naperville, Illinois, giving us an update on the location’s progress.
Located at 3200 Ogden Ave in Naperville, locals will recognize the structure as the former GMC Hummer dealership, and Tesla has chosen not to make any major changes to its appearance.
Apart from being a showroom, the facility will also have an after-sales service center, judging by the fact that service hours have been seen posted on the entrance.
While the official Tesla website lists the store and service center as “Open”, it is not quite there yet. However, Tesla models can already be seen parked inside the showroom, and test drive vehicles, loaner vehicles, and a bit of inventory are already at the location.
Vehicle deliveries for customers in the vicinity are being rerouted to the Naperville location, with one Reddit user having been notified to collect their vehicle from the showroom in late November. This indicates that Tesla expects the showroom to be piping out deliveries, if not being fully functional, very soon.
The building’s interior still needs a bit of touching up, and the service center is still a work in progress. With many existing and potential Tesla customers avoiding the Chicago area as of late, this showroom, once up and running, will serve as an excellent alternative for the residents of Illinois.
The Naperville location is definitive proof that Tesla is starting to transition away from cutesy boutique-like mall stores and towards awe-inspiring showrooms and sales centers.
