Tesla Model 3 Still Leads EV Sales in Switzerland as of October 2020

Electric vehicles (EVs) are on the rise around the world, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic having perhaps slowed that down some.

Still, the plugin EV market share in Switzerland was up 156% in October 2020, with 2,963 total EV registrations, and with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) making up 57% of all plugin sales, as reported by EV Sales Blogspot.

While the Tesla Model 3 only sold 61 units in Switzerland in October, it’s still the year-to-date leader in the country with a total of 3,133 units sold in 2020. Second most in Switzerland in 2020 is the Renault Zoe, which sold a total of 214 units in October, making it the most sold EV in Switzerland in that month alone.

Switzerland’s second-most sold EV model in October was the Volkswagen ID.3, which sold 189 units and has sold 491 units year-to-date. Other runner-ups in October sales included Hyundai’s Kona EV, as well as a number of Volvo’s plugin hybrids, the Volvo XC60 PHEV, the XC40 PHEV, and the S/V60 PHEV.

As EV market shares continue to grow around the world, it’s refreshing to see a number of brands competing with excellent products in the category. The more low-emission and zero-emission vehicles consumers have to pick from, likely the more they’ll buy. And thus, the transition to sustainable transportation will become easier and easier.
