Starlink Internet ‘Awaiting Approval’ from Canadian Authorities Says Elon Musk

When will Starlink internet launch its public beta in Canada? According to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, the service is “Awaiting approval from Canadian authorities.”

Musk made the comment in response to Canadian @LinusTech asking to test out the service. No other details were shared by Musk.

SpaceX recently was granted a telecom license in Canada by the CRTC. It’s unclear when Starlink will get approval for use in Canada. Rural Canadians are eagerly awaiting Starlink as an alternative solution for internet, which currently is slow and expensive outside of urban areas.

Currently, Starlink internet is being tested by users in the United States only and the service is seeing excellent download speeds beyond 150 Mbps. The Starlink kit costs $499 USD while the service will cost $99 USD per month.

Earlier this week, Musk said more Starlink internet public beta invites were coming this week, “in the thousands’.
