Tesla to Spend Up to $12 Billion in Battery and EV Factories Over Next 2 Years

Tesla (TSLA) has certainly been busy lately, with three different factories being built on three different continents, the recent release of its full self-driving beta, the announcement of new battery designs, and the Cybertruck set to be released in 2021 – and yet, the company still has more plans in the works.

In a 10-Q document developed for Tesla, the company has indicated it plans to continue to increase investments in EV and battery manufacturing over the course of the next two fiscal years, with capital expenditures expected to amount to as much as $6 billion (USD) in each of the next two years. The document was shared to Reddit by user u/OrbitalATK in the Tesla Motors subreddit Monday morning.

The report states that “Owing and subject to the foregoing as well as the pipeline of announced projects under development and all other continuing infrastructure growth, we currently expect our capital expenditures to be at the high end of our range of $2.5 to $3.5 billion in 2020 and increase to $4.5 to $6.0 billion in each of the next two fiscal years.”

As Tesla ramps up for even more plans, it’ll set aside plenty of money for new factories, showrooms, Superchargers, and a number of other projects to which the company has already begun referring.
