Elon Musk Now Richer Than Mark Zuckerberg Following Tesla Stock Split
For the time being, Elon Musk is sitting high as the world’s third-richest person.
On Monday, Musk surpassed Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg as the third-richest person in the world, following the announcement and split adjustment for Tesla’s new five-for-one split stocks, according to Yahoo Finance. At 11:25 am, Musk was worth $111.3 billion USD, while Zuckerberg was only worth $110.5 billion USD. The figures come from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index which is updated ending every market day.

Prior to the split, Tesla had already reached several highs this month, and has consistently achieved steady growth. Through the course of Tesla’s growth throughout this year, Musk has also added several billion dollars to his personal fortune, now sitting with the likes of other billionaires like Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and Zuckerberg, among others.
Tesla has more in store for the rest of the year too. With its battery-unveiling event Battery Day less than a month away, and the release of the Model Y set for early 2021, its momentum is not unprecedented.
Whether or not Musk remains third-richest stands to trial, though Tesla’s growth over this year suggests that his personal fortune might not be done growing just yet.
As of writing, a split-adjusted Tesla is trading at $486.83 USD, up nearly 10% for the day, showing no signs of slowing down.
