Elon Musk Apologizes for Shifting Delivery Dates on Some Tesla Orders

Tesla Inc. is rushing to conclude its second quarter of 2020 with standout performance. The company has experienced quite a flurry of media attention lately. As of yesterday, Tesla made it into the J.D. Power Car Quality Study for the first time, a landmark accomplishment for the electric vehicle maker. However, the results weren’t entirely favorable. Furthermore, the company has shown some Model Y production problems recently. Nevertheless, they continue to scramble to complete the quarter with flying colors.

Last night Tesla CEO Elon Musk expressed an apology to some Tesla customers who received shifted delivery dates. In the tweet Musk states, “Apologies to Tesla customers for shifting delivery dates. It’s a crazy world out there!”

The rush to complete deliveries in a timely manner has caused Tesla some problems in the past. Given the speed bumps the company has experienced throughout the year, customers could have expected similar interruptions at the close of the second quarter. In an attempt to move more inventory Model 3s before the end of the month, Tesla is offering free Supercharger miles as an incentive.

Musk’s tweet highlights some of the struggles Tesla is going through during such a high-pressure time. However, with Battery Day and a Shareholder’s Meeting on the horizon, the company looks to take their problems in stride as the year summer marches forward.
