After much discussion and deliberation, electric car maker Tesla finally settled on a new date for its monumental Battery Day event. The event, originally scheduled for the start of summer, has been postponed a few times due to concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak. Battery Day’s adjusted date wouldn’t mark the first time Tesla experienced problems from the global pandemic this year.

But another subject came up in the Battery Day thread on Twitter, specifically talking about a new feature for Teslas.

A follow up question in the same thread, posted by @TeslaOwnersEBay asked, “Would you consider adding cross traffic warnings when our cars reverse?” The CEO replied simply saying “Yes.” Tesla could enable its rear and side cameras to detect for oncoming vehicles and pedestrians, while your car is reversing.

Tesla Autopilot features showcase a robust set of safety measures. The software’s latest Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control beta gave drivers a look into the possible future of autonomous driving. With cross traffic warnings when cars reverse on the horizon, Tesla looks to further develop its Autopilot system and again increase safety.
