North Carolina Tries to Get Tesla’s Attention with New Campaign
Despite Tesla making some recent announcements about potential new locations for its factories, some US cities aren’t giving up. We’ve already seen some outrageous marketing efforts from cities such as Tulsa, Oklahoma and Wichita, Kansas. These past efforts were intended to lure Tesla to the respective cities for its new Cybertruck factory. However, in a recent development, the city of Greensboro, North Carolina tried to get Tesla’s attention in order to move them out of California.
According to news sources at MSN, the NC city used an aerial approach in their campaign. “A small plane flew a banner over the Tesla Fremont factory that read: ‘Tesla come to NC. We want you at GR Megasite.'” Of course, Tesla CEO Elon Musk threatened to relocate from California earlier in the month. The threat made on Twitter followed a series of tussles with Alameda County health officials restricting the company’s ability to resume production after the coronavirus.
However, a new compromise between local officials and the electric vehicle maker seem to have reached some peace. The company resumed production on Monday of this week. In any case, North Carolina’s attempt to lure Tesla looks like nothing more than a cute attempt at this stage. With Tesla already expanding into Texas, a further expansion toward the east coast seems unlikely.
