In the current climate of electric vehicles both in North America and elsewhere, Tesla Inc. maintains a strong share of the market. With high performance vehicles, an eccentric media-savvy CEO, and advanced battery technology, the company shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. However, there are other companies throwing their contributions into the world of electric vehicles. One such company, Dyson, released some details regarding its canceled electric vehicle.
Dyson canceled the production of its electric vehicle in October of 2019. According to sources over at Engadget, “Dyson’s automobile remained a mystery to most, with insiders telling Engadget that only a handful of engineers had seen a working prototype somewhere in Wiltshire.”
Another article sourced from The Times shared some of Dyson’s comments on the new electric vehicle. As Britain’s wealthiest person, Sir James Dyson revealed what the car could have been. The vehicle, known only as the N526 contained a battery that could last “even on a freezing February night, on the naughty side of 70MPH on the motorway, with the heater on and the radio at full blast.”
As an electric sport utility vehicle boasting a range of features, the N526 looked like a promising project. At this point, even though the project was canceled, Dyson plans to work on similar projects. Dyson also remains open to allowing other car companies to use its battery technology.
