The AI Answering Starlink’s Phones Just Got a Major Upgrade

SpaceXSI released Grok Voice 3.0 on Wednesday, a new speech-to-speech model that it calls the most intelligent voice model in the world. The company says it answers in under a second, costs less than rival frontier models and already handles conversations in Tesla vehicles and Starlink call centers.
SpaceXSI announced the model on X and in a blog post, and it’s available today in the Voice Agent API and Voice Agent Builder at $0.08 a minute, or $4.80 an hour. That’s the same price developers were paying for Grok Voice 2.0, and any agent pointed at the grok-voice-latest model has already been switched over automatically without code changes.
The company is leaning on outside testing to back up its claim. In Artificial Analysis’s speech-to-speech index, dated October 13, Grok Voice 3.0 scored 86.9, ahead of OpenAI’s GPT-Live-1 at 83.2, Google’s Gemini 3.8 Live at 82.6 and its own predecessor at 81.3. It also scored 97% on Full Duplex Bench, which measures how naturally a model handles pauses, interruptions and turn-taking, and it matched GPT-Live-1 on the τ-Voice support-call test at 71.6% while responding with 40% lower latency.
ServiceNow’s EVA-Bench, which scores enterprise voice agents across more than 200 realistic scenarios, also gave Grok Voice 3.0 its top accuracy score at 74%. ServiceNow’s Nitin Aggarwal said the model “sets a new Pareto frontier” on the benchmark by pairing top accuracy with natural, responsive conversation.
The more telling numbers come from SpaceX’s own businesses. Starlink call centers use Grok Voice to answer about 20,000 customer calls a day in multiple languages, and SpaceXSI says roughly 70% of them are resolved without a human stepping in, while one in four sales calls ends in a purchase before the caller hangs up. A single agent built on the model can verify a customer, troubleshoot hardware, issue account credits and ship replacement equipment, which fits the company’s earlier push to sell Grok Bot as a cheap way to resolve support tickets.
Tesla owners are already using it, too. SpaceXSI says Grok Voice 3.0 handles millions of in-car conversations a day, covering quick requests through Connectors, which Tesla rolled out last month for things like checking a calendar or answering an email. Bigger hands-free jobs, such as ordering a coffee or booking dinner, get handed off to Grok Bot, whose voice mode also runs on the new model and picked up voice calls in late September.
SpaceXSI hasn’t said whether every Tesla with Grok is already on the new model or whether some owners need a software update first. It also hasn’t given a timeline for the regular Grok apps beyond Grok Bot’s voice mode.
