Taiwan’s Apollo Power has signed a deal with Tesla’s Taiwan arm to buy 260 Megapack 2XL units, adding up to roughly 1 GWh of battery storage.

That’s according to a filing Apollo Power made with the Taiwan Stock Exchange on October 11, which says the contract with Tesla Motors Taiwan was signed on October 8. The company says the Megapacks will be bought and delivered in batches and used for behind-the-meter enterprise storage and resilient grid projects.

Apollo Power did not disclose the price, saying the two companies have a confidentiality agreement and that Tesla asked for the amount to stay private. The filing adds that the final transaction value will depend on how the contract is carried out and its pricing mechanism, and that the purchase will be paid for through a cash capital increase and bank loans.

The equipment is expected to be delivered in stages through the end of 2027, with the sites planned to start operating in 2028. Apollo Power cautioned that the actual timeline depends on deliveries, customer projects, construction, grid connection and acceptance, and it noted that the equipment purchase is not revenue and that the partnership does not mean it has firm orders from the other companies involved.

Those other companies come from a second filing posted the same day, in which Apollo Power announced an “AIDC and enterprise resilient grid” strategic alliance with Tesla Motors Taiwan, Gigabyte, Phison and Shihlin Electric. AIDC refers to AI data centers, and Apollo Power says the Megapack order supports its push into energy integration services for AI data centers alongside enterprise power dispatch and supply resilience.

The deal is another sign of Megapack demand tied to AI computing, following NVIDIA naming Megapack among its first DSX Ready picks for AI factory power. It also lands as Tesla ramps up supply, having recently started shipping Megapacks powered by American-made cells.

Will AI data centers become Megapack’s biggest market?
