Tesla Energy said on September 8, 2026, that Powerwall 3 is now available in Japan, posting a “Built for Japan” video and opening installation consultations for homeowners who want the latest residential battery.

The company followed with a link to its Japanese Powerwall support pages, and Tesla’s Japan materials list a 13.5 kWh unit rated for up to 9.69 kW of continuous and backup output, 185 LRA starting capability, and stacks of up to four units for 54 kWh. The pages also call out Japanese safety and EMI compliance, JC Star and ECHONET Lite support, 0.6 m water resistance, and salt-damage resistance for coastal installs.

Certified installers contact applicants after the consultation form, with installations expected from September through October 2026 onward. Pricing is not listed on the public pages and comes through the installer once a site plan is set.

The Japan move lands days after Tesla opened three-phase Powerwall 3P orders in Portugal following Germany and the Netherlands, though today’s posts name the standard Powerwall 3 rather than the European 3P SKU. Japan already has a long Powerwall history, including the Miyakojima virtual power plant that stacked hundreds of residential units years ago, and the timing overlaps Tesla’s Cybercab Japan Tour starting September 11 in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.

For Japanese homeowners, the September 8 Energy posts are the official green light: Powerwall 3 is open for consultation now, with the first wave of installs aimed at the next two months.
