Tesla is sending Cybercab units out of Giga Texas with Starlink modules mounted on the hatch in volume for the first time, drone photographer Joe Tegtmeyer said on September 8, 2026, after flying the Austin factory outbound lot as production came back up after the long weekend.
“Giga Texas today is busy with production coming back up following the long weekend,” Tegtmeyer wrote. “Of interest today in the outbound lot is the appearance of hundreds of Model YL’s and many more Cybercabs and for the 1st time equipped with the Starlink module on the hatch in big numbers.” His photos and video show rows of gold Cybercabs staged outside the plant with the satellite hardware visible on the rear hatch rather than looking like a one-off retrofit.
Factory-fit Starlink on Cybercab matters for robotaxi ops where cell coverage drops, giving the unsupervised fleet a satellite path for connectivity and passenger service. Tegtmeyer did not claim every Cybercab on the road already has the module, only that the outbound lot finally showed the hatch hardware in big numbers as Model Y Long Wheelbase and Cybercab volumes ramped again after the holiday pause.
That fits other September Cybercab notes on the site, from cabin joystick tips in Austin to the Japan Tour starting September 11, as Tesla keeps showing more of the two-seater leaving the Austin line ready for service. If the hatch module sticks as standard on new builds, Starlink becomes part of how Cybercab ships rather than an afterthought bolted on later.
