Tesla Charging posted a nearly two-minute factory video on September 7, 2026, showing Superchargers being built at Giga New York in Buffalo, while charging director Max de Zegher said Folding Unit Superchargers are ramping on that line and framed the plant as both a jobs story and a nod to Nikola Tesla’s Niagara power legacy.
“Superchargers are made in Buffalo, New York. Thank you to all our incredible employees!” Tesla’s Charging account wrote with the walkthrough. The clip moves from a Giga New York neon buffalo sign and Buffalo skyline shots through robotic welding, workers installing thick wiring inside white cabinets, spray coating, computer testing stations, and finished cabinets headed out by forklift, with a finished V4 post and a control room map of charging activity mixed in. Historical black-and-white Republic Steel footage and the Nikola Tesla statue at Niagara Falls sit beside interviews with plant managers talking about new cabinets that can support up to eight posts.
De Zegher, who has led Tesla’s charging push, quoted that post after visiting the floor. “Just got back from the Supercharger line at Giga New York. Folding Unit Superchargers are ramping up,” he wrote. “The team there is great. Proud of what they build. Enjoy coming to work. These jobs change lives.” In a follow-up, he tied the plant to Buffalo’s power history: Nikola Tesla’s Niagara-to-Buffalo transmission helped make the city a power hub in 1896, and the factory now sits where a dead steel mill once stood, manufacturing Tesla Superchargers for the world.
Folding Unit hardware is Tesla’s modular V4 Supercharger approach meant to speed installs, and seeing the Buffalo line celebrated alongside that ramp keeps Giga New York at the center of how new stalls leave the factory. That sits with earlier charging notes on the site about Folding Unit V4 deployments and the plant’s shift after the final V3 cabinet left Giga New York, even as this drop is mainly a thank-you video plus de Zegher’s on-the-floor update rather than a new site-count announcement.
