Starlink said Starlink Mobile is now available in Costa Rica with Liberty, posting the official launch on August 27 and telling customers they can send voice notes, share locations, and use maps in remote areas.

The official account quoted Liberty Costa Rica, which said the pair are bringing satellite connectivity directly to phones and positioning Costa Rica as a regional test case. The Starlink post named voice notes, location sharing, and maps. It did not name a price, a plan, or an end date, and it pointed terms to libertycr.com.
That is the same Starlink Mobile stack SpaceX showed at Mobile World Congress in March, the consumer name for the direct-to-phone service that used to be called Direct to Cell. In the United States, T-Mobile already rolled satellite data and calling onto ordinary phones. Costa Rica is a carrier launch, not a dish sale.
Liberty’s homepage now leads with satellite connectivity as available. The promo video shows rural Costa Rica from the air, the pitch being coverage where towers drop out. Customers stay on their existing phones. Starlink did not say whether every Liberty line is included, or whether a customer has to add the feature in the My Liberty app.
Starlink did not say when the next Latin American carrier gets the same phone service. For now the official line is Costa Rica, Liberty, and the small print on the carrier’s site.
