Tesla has shared new European safety figures highlighting the real-world performance of its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system compared to human drivers. According to statistics posted by Tesla Europe, the semi-autonomous software logged over 65 million kilometers across five European Union countries during the past four months, recording a safety rate 5.2 times higher than manual driving.
The safety metrics show significant improvements in driving stability and incident prevention when the system is engaged, according to Tesla on Tuesday.
FSD Supervised recorded 5.2 times fewer collisions overall in approved EU markets, which include the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, and Belgium.
Vehicle control metrics indicated smoother operation under software management. Vehicles using FSD Supervised experienced 13.4 times less automatic emergency braking intervention, 9.2 times less harsh acceleration, 7.1 times less harsh braking, and 7.6 times fewer hard swerves compared to human-driven vehicles.
Highway vs. Non-Highway Performance
The collected data from April 10 to July 26, 2026, details specific performance across different road environments:
On highways, Tesla reported zero collisions over 41.9 million kilometers driven with FSD Supervised active. In comparison, manual driving with active safety features recorded 88 collisions across 429.3 million kilometers, making FSD 8.5 times safer in highway conditions.
On non-highway roads, FSD Supervised recorded 6 collisions over 23.8 million kilometers. Manual driving recorded 368 collisions over 514.5 million kilometers, yielding a 2.8 times safety advantage for the automated system on city and rural routes.
The comparative metrics aggregate data from both FSD Supervised and manual driving over identical timeframes within the five participating countries to track relative safety outcomes as software rollout expands across Europe.
