Grok 4.5 Arrives: SpaceXAI’s New Coding Powerhouse Costs Half as Much

Bar chart comparing DeepSWE 1.0 scores: Fable max 66.1%, GPT 5.5 high 64.3%, Grok 4.5 at 62% (orange), Opus 4.8 max 55.8%, Opus 4.7 max 54% (harness varies by model).

SpaceXAI has officially launched Grok 4.5, a new AI model built specifically for coding and agent-based tasks. The company announced the release today, following a successful beta testing period.

Grok 4.5 is designed for real-world engineering, excelling at navigating large codebases and managing complex projects. According to SpaceXAI, the model is “built for real-world engineering” and “excels in large codebases and handles long-running tasks that span multiple repositories, hundreds of skills, and a variety of tools.” The model was trained with Cursor and offers what the company calls “frontier intelligence at leading speeds and cost efficiency.”

Performance and cost efficiency were major focuses for this release. SpaceXAI says the model “uses half as many tokens per task, delivers higher tokens per second, and costs less than half as much as comparable models, at $2/M input and $6/M output tokens.”

Users can start using the new model today through the SpaceXAI console, the Grok Build platform, and Cursor. To encourage adoption, the company has “reset all limits so you can start for free.”

While the rollout is global, Grok 4.5 is not yet available in the European Union. SpaceXAI expects to bring the model to EU users later this month.

Looking ahead, Elon Musk noted that the company will “continue to make refinements to the Grok Build harness and the 1.5T foundation model almost every day in response to user requests.” Additionally, the company confirmed that the “2T model will finish training this month and be available to customers next month.”
