SpaceX President Gifting $325M Stock to Children’s Trump Accounts
SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell announced that she and her husband are participating in the Invest America program by gifting shares of SpaceX stock to more than two million children.
The couple is donating exactly one share of SpaceX stock to the individual Trump Account of each child. With shares recently closing around $162, the contribution amounts to roughly $162 worth of stock per account, bringing the total value of the gift to between $320 million and $325 million US. The exact value per child will depend on the final transfer price of the stock.
The massive donation targets children between the ages of 11 and 17 who live in households with lower average incomes across the United States. Shotwell noted that the giveaway will place a special emphasis on families living near her home in central Texas.
The announcement follows the launch of Invest America, an initiative aimed at providing privately owned investment accounts to children from birth to help them build an early financial foundation.
“My husband and I are honored and thrilled to participate in the Invest America program and gift a share of our SpaceX stock to a Trump Account for each of more than two million children across our great nation,” Shotwell stated in a post on X. “We have been fortunate in our careers and hope this gift encourages the next generation to continue the journey of enabling humanity to live and fly amongst the stars.”
This substantial contribution ensures that more than two million young Americans will now hold a direct financial stake in the commercial space exploration company.
