Tesla’s Cybercab Is Now the Most Efficient Electric Vehicle Ever Made

Tesla’s upcoming Cybercab has set a new benchmark for electric vehicle efficiency, achieving a record-breaking 165 watt-hours per mile during a recent demonstration. The milestone was shared during an event that also served as a sentimental farewell to the aging Model S and Model X platforms, signalling a major shift in the company’s focus toward its next-generation dedicated robotaxi fleet.

This makes it the most efficient electric vehicle ever made, a whopping 36% improvement over the Model 3.

The Cybercab’s efficiency numbers highlight the massive engineering gains Tesla has made since the introduction of its flagship luxury vehicles over a decade ago. While the Model S and Model X helped pioneer the modern electric vehicle market, the Cybercab is designed from the ground up for autonomous operation, utilizing a much lighter, purpose-built architecture that significantly reduces energy consumption.

For Tesla, the transition marks the end of an era. The Model S and Model X paved the way for mass-market electrification, but the company is now betting heavily on smaller, more efficient autonomous vehicles to drive its future growth. As production gears up for the Cybercab, the event underscored that Tesla is moving away from its roots as a luxury automaker toward becoming a leader in scalable, low-cost autonomous transportation.
